Whose Advice Do I Listen To?

Psalm 1:1-3 “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”

God prospers those who delight in and study and obey his Word. The ways of the world are often steeped in foolish and destructive counsel that only leads to ruin. What may seem clever or practical at first will eventually propel me away from God. In contrast, if I seek God and follow in his ways, these verses promise that I will be like a healthy and productive tree – full of life!

Father, your Word is my delight. Where would I be if not for your grace and mercy to rescue me, to give me your Spirit, and to teach me from your Holy Scriptures? I want to prosper in the direction that you have planned for me, especially in fruitfulness that brings you glory.
