1 Corinthians 13:4-5 “Love … does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, … is not self-seeking.”
Bureaucracies are often built upon – and revel in – envy, boasting, pride, and self-seeking. But, according to these verses, those very behaviors demonstrate the absence of love. Sadly, some try to achieve success with an underlying hope to finally be loved by another person or, at least, to finally love themselves.
Father, please cleanse me of a propensity toward envy, boasting, pride, and self-seeking at work and in life. Please fill me instead with your love today – love that is patient, kind, humble, unselfish, forgiving, rejoicing in the truth, trusting, and persevering.
