Proverbs 16:3,9 “Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established … The heart of man plans his way but the Lord establishes his steps.”
My work consists of a portion that produces income and puts me in the path of human beings who work with me. And my work consists of a portion that is purely voluntary at church and family ministry and through hospitality and missions. In both portions I make plans and have dreams for the future. But it is God who has the authority over my life and who will establish my plans – and alter them as necessary to accomplish his greater purposes in the lives of others and in my own life. I want to adjust my plans to serve his greater purposes.
Father, you know the challenges and complexities of my job. You know my desire to make a difference in this world by furthering your purposes. I commit these and all other areas of work and service to you. Please establish my steps in the direction and in the timing you intend for me.
