No Fear of Bad News

Psalm 112:7 “He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting the Lord.”

This verse can be understood in two ways: [1] The man who fears God does not live in fear of bad news or fret about all the things that could go wrong; he does not waste time and energy on worry because he trusts God in everything. [2] The man who fears God is not overcome by anxiety when bad news comes; he does not panic but remains steadfast and unshaken, trusting God in everything. Either way, God wants me to honor him with my trust. The worst thing I can do is stop trusting him and take matters into my own hands, living by my wits and reacting to difficulties without seeking his wisdom and waiting on his guidance.

Father, you are most worthy of honor and glory and praise and worship. You are the almighty Creator, all-knowing yet showing grace to sinners, all-powerful yet gentle and humble of heart, everywhere present yet in fellowship and loving conversation with me as an individual. You are utterly worthy of all my trust. You are in control. Nothing surprises you. I know that no matter what I face today, you love me and will never abandon me.
