Mind-Boggling

Psalm 139:1-6 “O Lord you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord. You hem me in – behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.”

God knows me thoroughly. His hand is on my life. He knows when I toss in my sleep, when I feel discouragement over misunderstandings and lost opportunities, when I think wrongly about someone, when I act according to his will or out of selfish motives, when I speak life into another or wound with my words. It is mind-boggling that God would know me so intimately, seeing all my flaws and sins, yet still love me. Because God cares for me in every detail, I don’t have to fret and scheme about the future. I don’t have to grasp at success.

Father, please saturate my thoughts today with the wonderful and lofty thought of your attention to every detail of my life. Let me sense your hand upon me. I don’t want today to be about my goals and objectives. I want today to be about accomplishing what you desire for me and for the people around me.
