Proverbs 13:10 “Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.”
Proverbs 15:22 “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisors they succeed.”
Both of these proverbs are about following good advice, not resisting it because of my pride or impatience. If I don’t always have to be right, I will listen and find wisdom. And my plans, improved by the input of others, will succeed – or at least have much better chance of succeeding. This is basic, practical wisdom.
Father, without the guidance of your Word and without the help of men and women who are fellow-travelers in the faith, where would I be today? Thank you for always providing wise counsel and for teaching me to listen more.
