Philippians 2:7 “He made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.”
Jesus didn’t “maximize” or “optimize” his position. Rather, he lowered himself and became a servant for the benefit of the undeserving. Philippians 2 instructs me to “have the same mindset as Christ Jesus” (2:5), i.e., to follow in his humility. I must empty myself of myself and fill that space with him, with his consideration for others’ needs before my own. Living this way is impossible – unless I am filled with the life-changing power of his Spirit.
Father, please fill me with your Spirit today. Please show me where I’m about to put my own interests and needs ahead of others’. I welcome you to change my behavior and path at that very moment so that I become more like your Son.
