Proverbs 19:8 “He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who cherishes understanding prospers.”
This could be the theme verse for this entire blog. Indeed, getting wisdom and cherishing understanding not only bring honor to God, but bring richness (though not always riches) to a person’s life. Foolishness does the opposite. It destroys the soul and, left unchecked, will grow into failures that blight future generations. Yet wisdom is as close as the nearest Bible and the getting of wisdom comes from putting its teachings into practice. With the indwelling of God’s Spirit, true wisdom gives life.
Father, thank you for your Word and its power to penetrate my soul with life-giving wisdom. I ask that you increase wisdom in me and that I continue to cherish (keep and cultivate with care and affection; cling to; protect; esteem; treasure; prize) understanding.
