Demolishing Arguments

2 Corinthians 10:5 “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

This verse is about how I think. It is about renewing my mind (see Rom. 12:2) which doesn’t merely improve me; it transforms me. It’s about breaking free from habits and patterns of thought that fail to honor God, that doubt his goodness, that twist the evidence. God is the author of reason and intellect. He wants me to develop my critical thinking skills, to master my thought life, to see through the mockeries and posturing of the world and the flawed judgments of those who contradict truth.

Father, thank you for the opportunity to pursue truth in science, in data, and in everyday life. Despite the fallen state of this world, your presence is evident everywhere and your Word continues undiminished. Protect me from losing sight of you. Please sharpen my thinking so that I always pursue the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
