Avoid Evil. Period.

1 Thessalonians 5:22 “Avoid every kind of evil.”

Evil takes many forms, but often involves some sort of lie – whether deceiving others or myself. And evil easily gains a foothold whenever and wherever my life grows cold to the things of God. But I can avoid evil in my life when I turn my attention back to my Creator. Evil cannot win against prayer, obedience to God’s Word, on-going accountability to other Christians, and true worship and praise to the One who is worthy.

Father, show me where I am tolerating evil in my life or where I have been neglecting you. Please strengthen me to walk in close communion with you, filled with your Spirit, immersed in the truth of your Word, and in close friendship with faithful brothers.
