Wiser Foolishness, Stronger Weakness

1 Corinthians 1:25 “For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.”

This verse speaks to the difficulty encountered by human beings, steeped in conceits and presuppositions, to accept the concept of the gospel – that God became Man to die on my behalf. At first glance, the cross can appear foolish and weak (1 Cor. 1:18). But it represents the greatest, most selfless act in all of history, the greatest hope that has ever been offered to humankind. It is nothing less than the power of God. Only spiritual blindness can make a person fail to see it. In the same way, but on a much smaller scale, God’s ways in the workplace can seem foolish and weak to those who think that true life is found in the pursuit of status, wealth, and power.

Father, thank you for sending your Son to die in my place. Because of your love, I now share in the life of the resurrected Christ. I am no longer my own since you purchased my life. Please help me reflect you today at work and at home. Keep me from self-exalting attitudes and behaviors. Use me as a testimony to my fellow man and make me fruitful in leading others to Jesus Christ.
