Joy, Security, and Peaceful Sleep

Psalm 4:7 “You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.”

I can feel elation, satisfaction, and a sense of security when my work prospers, my bank account grows, and my investments multiply. These are indeed good things. But true and lasting joy only comes from God. No worldly accomplishment can compare. Other verses in Psalm 4 tell me to “put your trust in the Lord” (4:5) and “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety” (4:8). It isn’t wealth that brings safety but God. He hears and answers prayers, and he sets apart the godly for himself (4:3).

Father, thank you for hearing my prayers. I fully depend on you and know you will continue to provide for me and my whole family. Every blessing comes from you.
