Star Power

Philippians 2:15-16 “… blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life.”

God’s standard is very high for his children: blameless, pure, without fault. We must reflect his holiness if there is to be any hope in this world. So much about the world is horribly crooked and depraved. Media propaganda, socialist oppression, terrorism, corruption, abortion clinics, the porn industry, and drug addictions are just a subset of the evils and the darkness. But Jesus came to shine light into the darkness, to free captives from their sin, to offer life to all who receive him. And he has given his followers the privilege and joy of shining his light.

Father, please make my life today like a star shining in the darkness. Keep me from sin, from diminishing Christ’s light in any way, from failing to share the gospel with others, from being deaf to your guidance, or having heard your voice, from being hesitant to take action.
