What to Do with Your Money

Proverbs 3:9-10 “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.”

I have experienced God’s abundance year after year since resolving to tithe from my very first paycheck as a teenager. In the short-run, I have seen God provide just enough to pay the bills with almost nothing left over. This taught me to depend on God and not waste money on unnecessary things. In the long-run, God has filled my financial “barns” to overflowing. He has developed generous hearts in every member of my family and has used our home as a haven and a place of rest and renewal for countless visitors. He has also given us a sense of expectation and adventure in seeing him provide for our needs. Honoring God by giving back the first fruits of his gifts to us has been one of the greatest blessings of our lives.

Father, you are generous to all who honor and depend on you. I have seen your promises proven true again and again. Please continue to remind me and Dawn of your faithfulness and keep us faithful and generous all our lives. Please also motivate more of your followers to step out in faith to consistently give a full tithe so they can experience the joy that accompanies freedom from the tyranny of money.
