Virtue

Colossians 3:12-14 “Therefore as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience … Forgive as the Lord forgave you … And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together.”

I must clothe myself with the “garments” God has provided for abundant life. The transformation described here does not happen without my active cooperation and obedience to God’s Word. Doing so is always for the good of others and for my own good because God dearly loves me and gives me his Spirit through whom the miracle of transformation happens. Note what a contrast these virtues are to the rage, malice, legalism, unforgiveness, arrogance, fear, and hatred found in the attitudes of those who oppose Jesus Christ.

Father, please be glorified in me today and in all of your children. May our lives be filled with virtue, reflecting your love and offer of salvation to all. May our testimonies win souls in the midst of darkness and confusion.
