Make the Most of Every Opportunity

Colossians 4:5-6 “Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”

People are continually evaluating what I say and how I live my life. And God continually puts me in the path of “outsiders” – human beings disconnected from their Creator, lost, unredeemed, their sins still held against them. Every encounter with another person is an opportunity to express God’s grace and love while also holding to the truth about the need for salvation*. This is a crucial responsibility for every follower of Jesus Christ.

* “The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.” – Tim Keller

Father, please use me this week in every encounter with colleagues, bosses, neighbors, service workers, taxi drivers, airport employees, etc. Please don’t let me be distracted, but increase my awareness of the many opportunities you bring to engage in conversation about your greatness and love.
