Psalm 33:16-18 “No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its strength it cannot save. But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.”
God reveals a truth in this passage about what goes on behind the scenes in the life of his followers. On the surface, I may appear outmatched and on the road to certain defeat. But behind everything, God is in control and will accomplish his purposes in my life – oftentimes bringing victory where and when it seems impossible. Where am I placing my hope? This is about God-confidence instead of self-confidence. It is about putting my hope in God’s unfailing love toward me, not ultimately in myself, my country, my employer, scientific advancements, etc.
Father, I place my hope in you. It is a very dark time in the world. Every attempt by mankind to form a worldview and a system of government or religion that excludes the gospel is doomed to failure. Please turn hearts from trusting in mankind to trusting in you. Please bring revival across this world.
