Wretched

Revelation 3:17 “You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.”

This is the ultimate rebuke to Rich Man’s Syndrome, the mistaken belief that greater wealth implies greater wisdom. But it also applies to America. The people of this great land have grown wealthy, bloated, and careless, worshipping sports, entertainment, celebrity, pornography, and drugs, losing all sense of what is truly important. Truth is shouted down on the university campus and suppressed in the corporation. Marriage is cast aside as irrelevant. We routinely slaughter the most innocent and helpless of all. Common sense, decency, and virtue are tossed away in exchange for political correctness.

Father, in this foolish, rebellious time in our nation’s history, please reveal the poverty of soul, the blindness and the nakedness of our lives. Shine your light into the darkness and bring a sweeping revival across this land. Overturn and demolish Satan’s strongholds and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of you.
