My Life No Longer

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”

My life is no longer my own. I have been bought at a price (1 Cor. 6:20; 7:23). Yet in exchange for this purchase – Christ pouring out his perfect life to buy an utterly damaged human being – I only give up an ugly selfishness that is not really life at all. In return, Christ himself comes to live in me. The Creator of the universe dwells in me by his Spirit. The implications are enormous! How can I respond with anything but gratitude, obedience, and dependence on him?

Father, your ways are astonishing. Your love is beyond measure. Your plan since before time was to redeem sinners. And you sought me out, individually, to lavish on me your love, mercy, and grace. Thank you, my Savior! Please fill me with your Holy Spirit today so that I may serve you in any way you wish. I love you.
