Outside the Camp

Hebrews 13:13-14 “Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore. For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.”

This is the direct opposite of the worldly “success” mentality that seeks to exalt self, gain status, and associate with “important” people. Going outside the camp, where Jesus has gone, is to bear disgrace in the eyes of the world. Some will see and begin to understand and eventually follow, but many will despise and reject the one who goes with Jesus. Yet, in all of this there isn’t a sadness to but a huge relief and joy, a finding of contentment and purpose and true life.

Father, please keep my eyes always on you and my feet always on your path – wherever you lead, including outside the camp.
