2 Corinthians 3:5 “Our competence comes from God.”
Self-reliance sounds good as a way of life, just like self-confidence sounds like a healthy way to think about myself. But the Christian way is to rely on and have confidence in God, not in myself. I can, and do, easily deceive myself. And there are many situations that even the wealthiest, most brilliant, or best-connected person cannot overcome or endure. But if I depend on God for everything, focusing on him and seeking to bring him glory, then my life will reflect his power.
Father, thank you for indwelling me, for equipping, teaching, guiding, and strengthening me. Without you I am nothing. Anything good that has happened in my life is a blessing from you. Please keep me close to you throughout this day, breathing out your praise and breathing in your grace. Please equip me for every task and challenge ahead.
