Proverbs 10:9 “The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.”
Proverbs 11:1 “The Lord abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight.”
A man’s integrity goes deep into the details of his handling of money, contracts, taxes, people, verbal commitments, expense reports, data, and measurements of any kind. Dishonesty will be found out. Why lose God’s protection and favor because of the temporary gain from a shortcut? “Righteousness guards the man of integrity.” (Proverbs 13:6). How much better to do things right and be guarded by the Lord and have his security. This is all about living in dependence on him and not taking things into my own hands.
Father, thank you for your grace and forgiveness for the times I’ve failed to be 100% truthful in my work early in my career when I included on my expense reports a family meal at a restaurant prior to leaving on a business trip the following day. The few times I did this are a shame to me and no doubt you withheld certain blessings or responsibilities back then because of this sin, as subtle and easily excused as it was. Thank you for teaching me that you want my obedience in every detail of life without exception. Please strengthen me today to live in righteousness and integrity in all things.
