Psalm 84:11-12 “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. O Lord Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.”
The sun brings light and warmth. A shield brings protection. These are just part of all the good things that God blesses his children with when they trust and obey him in word and action. This is not a promise of a trouble-free life, but a promise of God’s presence at all times – even through suffering and grief. Regarding my motivations, I must seek God’s favor and the honor that comes from him, not the favors and honors granted by the world.
Father, I desire favor and honor from you. Keep me from chasing it in my job and community. Please help me trust you in every situation I face today. And, despite my imperfections and weaknesses, please make my walk blameless.
